Vision

We are the Directors and owners of Parnngurr Community School Aboriginal Corporation. Just as we hold our country we also hold our school and all the kids in it. We know what we want our school to do.


The Directors' Vision

We believe in the power of our Martu people's self reliance, ownership of school and independent action to shape our own social and educational destinies.

We are working with our partners, especially Martu People Ltd (Martu Trust), to bring our kids up to be ‘level’ with whitefella kids, so they can have more opportunities than us.

We must

  • Find the way forward ourselves, not rely on government all the time. Provide leadership that will mobilise Martu people to take control and responsibility for our own future.
  • Take away the road blocks and break the pattern of drinking and jail.
  • Find the best ways to teach our kids and take ownership of those programs.
  • Make room for Martu culture in our school.
  • Make school a happy place for the kids.
  • Tell other schools so we can share our successes.

The Principal's Implementation

Hi my name is Dan Lynch, the Directors trust me, as Principal of their school, to help achieve their vision. Following are the principles that guide my endeavours.

  • School must address educational disadvantage but we cannot do this alone. An important task is to foster partnerships that create synergies to meet the challenges we face.
  • School must create better life opportunities for Martu.
  • School must be a great and exciting place to be.
  • Any program that lacks engagement from the parents and the community will not work.
  • It is essential to find the programs that create measurable success, equally to reject those that do not.
  • Good relationships underpin all learning.
  • School has to address a range of childhood development needs. Often the key to educational success is a developmental need that is holding the student back.
  • School must support and invigorate Martu culture
